Aims of the course:

In this workshop pupils will learn the history of different techniques used to create codes as a method of secure communication. They will learn about different ciphers and using Mathematics will learn how to encrypt and decrypt these ciphers. Another aim of the workshop will be to create their own ciphers and see if they can crack other pupils codes.

Skills you will learn:

This workshop will help to develop problem solving and Mathematical skills. There are links to computer science with modern cryptography which is used in various areas from online banking to military communications.

What you will need:

Pupils will only need a calculator and their device to help them with this workshop.
